Cruise Desperate For Pegg

TOM CRUISE was so desperate to cast English actor SIMON PEGG in MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE III he considered asking US President GEORGE W BUSH to help him speed up his work permit. Cruise headhunted Pegg to play BENJI DUNN in the sequel after spotting him in horror spoof SHAUN OF THE DEAD - but the deal almost fell through because of bureaucracy. Cruise explains, "Shaun Of The Dead is just brilliant, but we nearly didn't get Simon. We were having trouble getting his work papers. "I said, 'Look, I don't care who we've got to call. Even if we have to call the president. Get Simon Pegg here for the two days of shooting.' "I don't think he knows what we went through to get him."
