Cruise Controls The Box Office Again

Tom Cruise is back at the top of the American box office after his latest movie Collateral crashed in at number one yesterday (08AUG04).

In its opening weekend, the film, in which Cruise plays a villainous hitman, grossed an estimated $24.4 million (GBP13.6 million).

M Night Shyamalan's THE VILLAGE slipped to number two, but marked an incredible 10-day success by creeping past the $85 million (GBP47.2 million) mark.
