Credibility Blow To Jackson's Accuser
The boy who has accused MICHAEL JACKSON of molesting him allegedly signed legal papers earlier this year (03) saying the pop star "never acted inappropriately".
San Francisco District Attorney KIMBERLY GUILFOYLE-NEWSOM claims she has heard a tape in which twelve-year-old cancer sufferer GAVIN ARVIZO, his mother JANET ARVIZO and his brother all say Jackson didn't act inappropriately.
Newsom says the 20 minute cassette was played to her by a private investigator earlier this year, and claims Arvizo and his mother also signed legal papers stating Jackson never abused him.
The news will come as a blow to prosecutors unless they can prove the 45-year-old singer molested Arvizo after the tape was recorded and the document was signed.
But California's Santa Barbara District Attorney TOM SNEDDON is confident he had enough evidence to arrest Jackson.
He says, "We didn't go looking for this case. It came to us. I would not have filed the charges had we not had a victim we felt was co-operative and supportive."27/11/2003 17:20
