Couric To Become Evening News' First Lady
Beloved US TV anchorwoman Katie Couric will make history this summer (06) when she becomes the first female anchor of the CBS Evening News.
The longtime TODAY co-host will leave when her contract runs out at the end of May (06) and jump networks from NBC to CBS. In one of biggest US TV moves this century so far, The View and Who Wants To Be A Millionaire co-host MEREDITH VIERA will replace Couric on breakfast news show Today.
Couric told fans watching Today this morning (05APR06), "I wanted to tell all of you out there that after listening to my heart and my gut, I decided that I'll be leaving Today at the end of May.
"Sometimes change is a good thing, although it's taxing, it's exciting to start a new chapter."
