Costner Inspired To Act By Richard Burton

Kevin Costner credits late screen star Richard Burton with inspiring him to pursue an acting career.

The DANCES WITH WOLVES star was boarding a plane decades ago when he had a chance encounter with Burton and asked the Welsh actor if it was possible to have an acting career without the turmoil that surrounded his life.

Costner recalls Burton telling him, "I think it's possible. It hasn't been for me, but I think it's possible."

The actor says the brief comment was all the inspiration he needed and years later he landed a bit part in his first ever movie - 1982's NIGHT SHIFT.
