Coldplay Head Up Ivor Novellos
British rock band Coldplay have been named Songwriters of the Year at the Ivor Novello awards in London.
The IN MY PLACE band were commended for their second album A RUSH OF BLOOD TO THE HEAD, but lost out in the Best Contemporary Song category to WEAK BECOME HEROES by MIKE SKINNER, aka The Streets.
Former BEACH BOY BRIAN WILSON was awarded the SPECIAL INTERNATIONAL AWARD during the ceremony, which took place today (22MAY03) at the GROVESNOR HOUSE Hotel.
Other rock stalwarts such as Bryan Ferry, previously of Roxy Music and Irish rock legends U2 were also recognised in the annual awards.
