Cocker Almost Quit Music
PULP star JARVIS COCKER decided to retire from the music industry before changing his mind to record a solo album. Cocker, 42, indulged in a period of intense songwriting, in a bid to prove to himself he was bored of music. But the songs impressed him so much, he now plans to record them for his debut solo album. He says, "I thought I was gonna retire. I thought I was too old. I'm a man in his forties now. "I thought that's too old to be doing music and stuff. So as soon as I decided that, I started writing songs - just to f**k myself off. "I've now got enough songs that are reasonably palatable, so I'm going to record them."
