Cliff Richard Plans New American Assault

British pop veteran SIR CLIFF RICHARD is launching another bid to break into the American music industry - even though he has just passed his 65th birthday.

The DEVIL WOMAN singer has enjoyed more time in the UK singles chart than any other artist or band - including ELVIS PRESLEY and THE BEATLES - but he has always struggled for recognition across the Atlantic.

Despite his advancing years, Richard still dreams of Stateside stardom and hopes to perform a selection of his newest songs at Joe's Pub in New York City during a showcase of 'new' talent regularly attended by record label executives.

His spokesperson BILL LATHAM says, "It has always niggled him that he has failed to make a success of things in America."

Sock it to em Cliff - they don't know what they're missing. We've been following your career and enjoying your singing for 47 years - time for The States to catch up.... and what better way of letting them know how talented you are than by showcasing your Nashville recordings. All the best but don't stay away too long. See you on tour next year. You're 65 going on 40!
