Clay Aiken 'Outsells' Ruben Studdard
Ruben Studdard's status as the current American Idol has been thrown further into doubt - after reports that runner-up Clay Aiken's music has been outselling the larger-than-life winner's by four-to-one.
According to the NEW YORK TIMES, Aiken's CD single - a medley of THIS IS THE NIGHT and BRIDGE OVER TROUBLED WATER - has been on top of the AMAZON.COM sales chart since shortly after the show ended. And the single won't even be released for another week.
Raleigh, North Carolina, native Aiken has just signed a lucrative record deal and is set to release his debut album this summer (03).
Studdard will be releasing his cover of the Westlife hit FLYING WITHOUT WINGS at the same time.
After Aiken lost out to Studdard last month (MAY03), speculation mounted that the voting system was rigged, which American TV network Fox has vehemently denied.
