Clapton: 'Forceful' Lennon And McCartney Held Back Harrison

ERIC CLAPTON has paid tribute to his late friend SIR GEORGE HARRISON - claiming he was prevented from reaching his true potential by his BEATLES bandmates.

The fellow guitar maestro was a close pal of Harrison, who lost his battle with cancer in 2001, and has suggested the SOMETHING star's unique skills were eclipsed by the "very forceful" JOHN LENNON and SIR PAUL McCARTNEY, who wrote the majority of the legendary sixties' rockers' songs.

He says, "George's thing was that he liked the company of gifted, creative people. Everyone was very, very aware that he was holding back, if not being kept back.

"I always felt that John and Paul were very charismatic people, but they were also very forceful characters too."
