Charlize Keeps Her Afrikaan Roots
Actress Charlize Theron may have lost her South African accent - but still has trouble with speaking English.
The Italian Job beauty, who was born in Benoni, is well-known for her mastery of international accents, but insists she is still ruled by her mother tongue.
She says,"My mom lives in Los Angeles and I can't even imagine speaking English to her.
"I still dream in Afrikaans and I have a hard time with English sometimes. You can express emotion really well with a word in Afrikaans, whereas in English I often feel as if I'm floundering and talking in circles."
