CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY star DAVID KELLY was such a heavy drinker in his youth, there are entire epochs of history he simply doesn't remember.
The 76-year-old Irish actor, who plays GRANDPA JOE in the TIM BURTON film, even admits his continual inebriation ensured he was blissfully unaware of seminal moments such as the 1963 murder of late US President JOHN F KENNEDY.
He says, "I used to drink like a fish. I don't remember the 1960s at all.
"I didn't know President Kennedy was dead until 1972."
