Chan Wants To Be A 'True Actor' Like De Niro
RUSH HOUR star JACKIE CHAN is desperate to ditch his signature action movies to follow in the footsteps of ROBERT DE NIRO and DUSTIN HOFFMAN as a "true actor".
The 50-year-old Hong Kong native admits he'd love the opportunity to trade in his usual punches and kicks for meatier roles and more dialogue.
He says, "I'm tired of doing Rush Hour, Rush Hour 2... I want to do something different. I want to be like Robert De Niro or Dustin Hoffman, like KRAMER VS KRAMER. Or slow motion on a beach, kissing with SHARON STONE with a song (in the background). But no action!
"I don't always want it to be like the old days. I want to change my image. I want to become an actor who can fight - not an action star."
"Even though I'm pretty good, how long can I keep fighting? Look at Robert De Niro. Look at CLINT EASTWOOD. They still can act."14/06/2004 09:41
