Cavern Founder Dies
ALAN SYTNER, the founder of the legendary Cavern Club made famous by THE BEATLES, has died.
Sytner was holidaying in France when he fell ill and passed away yesterday (12JAN06). It was the underground jazz venues of Paris, France which first inspired him to open the Cavern in Liverpool, England in 1957.
The Cavern is hailed as the launchpad for bands such as The Beatles, although Sytner was less than impressed by the rising stars, at one point passing a note to the young JOHN LENNON demanding they "cut out the bloody rock".
