Cash's Son Remembers His Parents On New Gospel Album
JOHNNY CASH's favourite gospel song has been re-recorded by his son as a tribute to the survivors of Hurricane Katrina. JOHN CARTER CASH teamed up with gospel group THE MIGHTY CLOUDS OF JOY to record classic folk anthem WE WILL OVERCOME for his new album VOICE OF THE SPIRIT: THE GOSPEL OF THE SOUTH. The tune has become an anthem for the victims of the August (05) storms, which devastated stretches of America's Gulf Coast. Carter Cash conceived the idea for the gospel compilation album while trying to deal with the deaths of his parents, Johnny Cash and JUNE CARTER CASH - and felt compelled to include their favourite tune. Carter Cash's gospel album also features friends of his parents, like MARTY STUART, MAVIS STAPLES and VINCE GILL. The late Johnny Cash also appears on the album, which will be released next month (APR06). A portion of the proceeds from each record sold will go to the American Red Cross in memory of the hurricane victims.
