New mum CARNIE WILSON has voiced her support for BROOKE SHIELDS' in her ongoing war of words with TOM CRUISE - because she understands how terrible postpartum depression is.
Shields was forced to defend comments she made about the condition and the drugs she took to cope when the WAR OF THE WORLDS actor attacked her for condoning the use of anti-depressant medication.
Cruise has since been backed by fellow Scientologists including JOHN TRAVOLTA's wife KELLY PRESTON, who feel depressed new mums should seek natural ways of dealing with their depression.
But now WILSON PHILLIPS singer Carnie has voiced her support for Shields, who revealed all about her postpartum depression in best-selling book DOWN CAME THE RAIN - because she too suffered when her first baby was born in April (05).
Wilson admits, "I cried all day over everything."
She managed to find a way through the blues with the help of therapy, but she still thinks Cruise was wrong to publicly attack Shields.
She adds, "It (medication) can help us live a happier life."
But she does acknowledge Cruise was right to suggest exercise and vitamins are the way to a truly happy and healthy life: "I do feel better when I'm exercising and eating correctly, but I don't think that will work entirely for everyone. I was lucky."
