Carlyle To Play Ecstasy-Popping Farmer

TRAINSPOTTING star ROBERT CARLYLE has picked another controversial role for his next film - he's playing an ecstasy taking farmer.

The Scottish star has signed up to play opposite OSCAR nominee-SAMANTHA MORTON in FARMERS ON E, which will be directed by first-timer SIOFRA CAMPBELL.

Carlyle, who will team up with his Trainspotting co-star EWEN BREMNER in the film, will play a drug-taking farmer whose idyllic rural life is threatened by plans to build a theme park on his land.

Campbell, who wrote the script, says, "We sent Robert the script and he responded immediately. I met him in Glasgow. He told me there that he wanted to do it."
