Carl Lewis In Drink Driving Allegation

Former Olympic champion CARL LEWIS has failed a breath test after smashing his sports car into a wall.

The 41-year-old track and field ace was allegedly found slumped at the wheel of his 2004 MASERATI - worth $180,000 (GBP120,000) - by police on a Los Angeles highway.

He was arrested on suspicion of drink driving after failing a sobriety test.

Lewis was released on bail and is due to appear at LOS ANGELES SUPERIOR COURT on 7 July (03).

Highway Patrol officers claim he lost control of the high-speed vehicle.

Recent revelations have suggested that Lewis' multiple gold medals in the 1988 SEOUL OLYMPICS should not have stood, as the athlete had secretly failed drug tests months before.
