Buses Sent To Provide Lollapalooza Fans With Air Conditioning
The organisers of Chicago, Illinois' Lollapalooza Festival handed out free water and called in city buses to keep fans cool as temperatures soared to 104 degrees Fahrenheit (40 degrees Celsius) yesterday (24JUL05).
As an estimated 33,000 fans gathered to see WIDESPREAD PANIC and the KILLERS among others at Grant Park on a day when local temperatures reached triple digits for the first time this century.
Bottled water was handed out for free, and empty buses were driven in to provide festivalgoers with makeshift air conditioned huts on wheels.
Despite the heatwave, only four people were taken to hospital for heat exhaustion.
The highlight for many fans at the two-day event was the debut of Lollapalooza founder PERRY FARRELL's new group SATELLITE PARTY, featuring former EXTREME guitarist NUNO BETTENCOURT and NO DOUBT star TONY KANAL.25/07/2005 09:17
