Buble Dominates Juno Awards

Jazz-pop star Michael Buble was the big winner at last night's (02APR06) Juno awards - Canada's Grammy awards - picking up four gongs at a politically-charged ceremony in Nova Scotia. The Vancouver singer walked away with awards for Best Singer, Album, Artist and Pop Album of the Year for IT'S TIME, a collection of vintage love songs. A thrilled Buble hailed his relatives for making him listen to the genre from such an early age: "Thank you to my grandpa who introduced me to what I think is the greatest music of all time. "This is the biggest thing in the world to me. God bless you all. Thank you Canada!" Elsewhere at the music awards, actress and host Pamela Anderson caused a storm when she took a swipe at Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper. The former BAYWATCH star, who has been ceaselessly campaigning against the country's controversial Seal hunting policy, opened the show by complaining that her favourite singer SEAL wouldn't be attending because "he was afraid he might gET clubbed to death". The audience reaction to the joke was muted but they warmed when the blonde beauty branded her infamous assets "vegan buns" and invited clean-living Coldplay frontman Chris Martin to take a peek. Coldplay later shared International Album of the Year, for X+Y, with the Black Eyed Peas. The biggest shock of the evening came when Alberta rockers Nickelback failed to capitalise on their six nominations, only taking home two awards. They won Junos for Best Group and Best Rock Album for ALL THE RIGHT REASONS, but lost out in the Fan Choice, Single and Album of the Year categories. Vancouver-born pop icon Bryan Adams was also honoured at the show, being inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame. The full list of winners is as follows: Fan's Choice: Simple Plan.
