Broadbent Owes Gangs Role To Short Film
OSCAR winner Jim Broadbent would never have starred in Gangs of New York if legendary director Martin Scorsese hadn't seen a short film he made in 1992.
Broadbent's role in British film-maker Mike Leigh's A SENSE OF HISTORY caught the attention of movie fanatic Scorsese, who cast the actor in his 2002 epic.
Broadbent says, "It did very well in America. It's funny how a film about a murderous old English toff can help you.
"It's a favourite of Scorsese's."
