Brits Impressed With Fahrenheit 9/11
British screen stars PETER O'TOOLE and BILL NIGHY have hailed FAHRENHEIT 9/11 after its UK premiere in London last night (29JUN04) - dubbing maker MICHAEL MOORE "the most important man on the planet".
Moore's controversial critique of US President GEORGE W BUSH and his handling of the aftermath of the September 11 (01) terrorist attacks won the prestigious PALME D'OR prize at this year's CANNES FILM FESTIVAL and has become the biggest opening documentary at the American box office.
After last night's screening, hosted by MIRAMAX movie boss HARVEY WEINSTEIN, LOVE ACTUALLY star Nighy called the film "truly marvellous" adding, "Michael Moore is becoming the most important man on earth - certainly more than George Bush or our own PM."
OSCAR winner O'Toole was more scathing of the politicians put under the spotlight: "It confirms everything I thought about Bush and about war. It makes TONY BLAIR look like the c*** that he is."
JUDE LAW, SIENNA MILLER, documentary maker NICK BROOMFIELD and DURAN DURAN guitarist NICK RHODES were also guests at the Leicester Square bash.30/06/2004 17:35
