British Gig Raises Cash For Tsunami Victims
Rock acts Badly Drawn Boy and Elbow joined forces to headline a British charity gig on Sunday (30JAN05) for the victims of the Indian Ocean tsunami.
The music stars - who performed at Manchester, England's Apollo venue - helped raise $190,000 (GBP100,000) for survivors of the 26 December (04) tragedy.
And Elbow frontman Guy Garvey was quick to commit to the event, because - like many of his fellow Brits - he's desperate to offer his assistance in any way he can.
He says, "It was a disaster that didn't involve politics, it was something that just happened, and I think that's why it plucked everyone's heart strings."
