Bridges Teams Up With Film-Makers To Chronicle Obsessed Fan

Movie star JEFF BRIDGES has taken part in a documentary about the eccentric busker who has stalked him for the past decade. The SEABISCUIT star first encountered RICHARD PETERSON when he was making AMERICAN HEART in Seattle, Washington, in the early 1990s - and the savant has become a regular visitor to his hotels and film sets ever since. Bridges explains, "I was making American Heart and I get dressed to go to work and I hear a trumpet playing and I look out my hotel window and there was a guy out there; (he was) kind of heavy-set and bald in a very tight-fitting coat with a trumpet. "I go down to get my ride and the guy comes up to me and he says, 'LLOYD BRIDGES' son, son of SEAN HUNT (US TV show)?' And I said, 'Yeah, you got me, that's me.'" The guy, Peterson, then asked Bridges to ask his father to help him complete his collection of Sea Hunt music. "I said, 'I'm sorry but that was 40 years ago... I'll do my best to get it.' He gave me a hug and said, 'See ya buddy.' That happened for the next 30 days as if it never happened before. Bridges became so fascinated with the persistent fan that he agreed to be interviewed for a documentary on Peterson. He adds, "I was doing Seabiscuit in Pasadena and I get a call and this guy says, 'We're documentary film-makers and we've been following Richard Peterson for 12 years... Would you mind us interviewing you?' "They did the interview and told me he was down in the lobby and asked me if I mind if he comes up. I said, 'No, bring him up.' He came up and we jammed on the piano and he played all kinds of Sea Hunt music for me." "This documentary is amazing. He's a street musician but totally self-sufficient and an amazing guy... Now, I'm kind of championing this guy."
