Bowles Devastated By Diana Death
British royal PRINCE CHARLES' fiancee CAMILLA PARKER BOWLES was overcome with grief when love rival DIANA, PRINCESS OF WALES was killed in a 1997 car crash.
Despite reports Camilla - rumoured to have had an affair with Charles throughout his marriage to the princess - deemed Diana to be a major obstacle in her quest to marry the prince, she broke down in tears and withdrew from the limelight when she heard the tragic news.
IRIS SWAIN - a retired deputy head teacher who worked with Camilla for the NATIONAL OSTEOPOROSIS SOCIETY charity, says, "The death of the princess devastated Camilla. She withdrew completely from public life. Few outside her family knew what she went through at that time.
"Her world fell apart, yet she conducted herself with such quiet dignity."21/02/2005 14:28
