Bowie Delays Gig For Soccer Game
Legendary singer David Bowie has refused to take to the stage at the ISLE OF WIGHT festival tonight (13JUN04) - until his beloved ENGLAND soccer team have completed their first EURO 2004 match.
The soccer-mad singer, 56, has told festival organisers he will remain backstage until captain David Beckham and his men have finished playing FRANCE in the Portugal-based tournament.
And Bowie has also asked organisers to ship in a television set for his dressing room so he can watch the game in private.
However the modest star has made few other demands - and has opted to stay in the $82.71 (GBP45.95)-a-night local TRAVEL INN hotel - rather than a more luxurious establishment.
