Black Eyed Peas Bring In Top Talent For Concert
LATEST: THE BLACK EYED PEAS are hoping to recruit NELSON MANDELA, OPRAH WINFREY and JAMES BROWN to join them at a benefit concert in South Africa. The hip-hopper have organised The Peapod Benefit Concert in Johannesburg on Saturday (06MAY06) and are hoping to convince others to help them use the concert to promote freedom. Rapper WILL.I.AM tells MTV, "We're playing with local South African artists, and there was talks of James Brown going, although I don't know if that's gonna happen. "The school that Nelson Mandela is a part of, it's the grand opening of that university, so we're there to celebrate that as well." Mandela is scheduled to attend and the hitmakers are also hoping to convince talk show host Oprah Winfrey to make an appearance. Local newspapers will distribute free tickets to the event, which will be held in Ellis Park. Singer FERGIE adds, "Some of these kids have never even seen a show in their life, and they're gonna get to see a concert... so it's a beautiful thing."
