Bittersweet Glastonbury For Ferdinand's Kapranos
FRANZ FERDINAND rocker ALEX KAPRANOS enjoyed his band's triumphant performance at Britain's GLASTONBURY FESTIVAL on Friday (25JUN04) - despite confronting some unpleasant memories from the last time he attended.
The TAKE ME OUT singer hasn't been back to the annual music bash in south-west England since 1993, when he managed to crash his then-girlfriend's father's car on the way back home to Scotland.
Kapranos explains, "I first came here when I was about 18. It was about ten years ago and THE VELVET UNDERGROUND were playing.
"I came down with some friends at the time and my girlfriend at the time, and managed to convince her parents to lend us their car. I wrote it off on the motorway on the way back, just outside Lockerbie (in Scotland).
"So my memories of Glastonbury are good, tinged with a little bit of sadness. I never came back again. Maybe I can write off two cars this time!"28/06/2004 09:28
