Bernal's Selena Pilgrimage

Mexican star GAEL GARCIA BERNAL took time out of filming his latest movie in Texas, to make a pilgrimage to the hotel where Latina superstar SELENA was murdered. Bernal joins WILLIAM HURT in his first US film THE KING, which was filmed in Corpus Christi - the same town where the 23-year-old singer was shot by YOLANDA SALDIVAR, her friend and president of her fan club, in 1995. In between shooting scenes for the movie, Bernal spent time getting to know the area and visited the Days Inn, off the Interstate 37 highway. Bernal says, "I went on crazy kind of scouting trips and going to the sea and spending a day at the beach together with the refineries. "We went to the motel where Selena was killed. It was an old weird motel. "It didn't publicise that this was the motel where she was killed. I didn't stay there but we stayed in the motel area down there."
