Belafonte Dubs Bush 'World's Greatest Terrorist'
American singer HARRY BELAFONTE has hit out at GEORGE W BUSH, dubbing the US president "the greatest terrorist in the world" during a meeting with Venezuelan president HUGO CHAVEZ.
The singer and activist was joined by actor DANNY GLOVER and Princeton University scholar CORNEL WEST in a delegation to South America.
Belafonte, 78, told Chavez during the televised meeting at the weekend (7-8JAN06) "No matter what the greatest tyrant in the world, the greatest terrorist in the world, George W Bush says, we're here to tell you: Not hundreds, not thousands, but millions of the American people support your revolution."
The DAY-O singer - a goodwill ambassador for the United Nations - also accused the US media of unfairly portraying Chavez as a dictator insisting Venezuela is a democracy whose citizens are "optimistic about their future".
Chavez claims Bush attempted to have him overthrown during a 2002 coup. The US has denied any involvement.
