David Beckham - Beckham's Cruz Inspiration Revealed

Soccer ace DAVID BECKHAM was inspired to name his newborn son CRUZ after he stumbled across the bizarre moniker during an autographing session.

Three years ago (02), the REAL MADRID star was approached by fan MARLON DANIELS, who asked Beckham to sign a baseball cap for his young boy.

When the hunky sportsman requested the name of Daniels' son, the fan replied, "Cruz."

The revelation ends frenzied newspaper investigations into the origins of the name chosen by the England captain and his wife VICTORIA.

Dental assistant Daniels says, "As soon as he heard the name of my son, he just couldn't stop gushing about it. He'd never heard of it and asked me where it came from and meant. He wrote it on a piece of paper and put it in his pocket.

"I was blown away when I heard the name of his new boy. He was obviously true to his word."

Former SPICE GIRL Victoria gave birth to her third son with husband David on Sunday (20FEB05).
