David Beckham is on the verge of purchasing a $3.6 million (GBP2 million) villa in Majorca - where neighbours will include SIR Elton John and CATHERINE ZETA-JONES.

The Real Madrid player wants to the buy the 10-bedroom Spanish farmhouse on the west coast resort of Deja - dubbed Showbiz by the Sea - as a retreat away from his soccer duties with wife VICTORIA and their two sons Brooklyn and ROMEO.

A source says, "David is interested in finding a sanctuary in the mountains where he can relax before games."
