Bbc Clears Itself After The Game's Homophobic Comments On Air
The BBC has brushed aside complaints from listeners after rapper THE GAME made homophobic comments on a radio show last year (05). The star called gay men "faggots" and "not real men" during an interview on Radio 1's JO WHILEY SHOW last July (05), prompting complaints from angry listeners to the show. But BBC governors have ruled the interview "met the required editorial standards and did not demonstrate homophobia". The committee says, "The Game's comments were very offensive, completely unacceptable and clearly homophobic. "However, it also noted that the presenter, JO WHILEY, was swift to make a full apology for what had been said and to distance herself and the network from The Game's comments. "This apology was an appropriate and proportionate response to what had occurred and meant that, taken as a whole, the programme did not breach required programme standards."
