Bb King Gets Museum Honour Off The Ground
Blues great Bb King joined state dignitaries in Mississippi on Friday (10JUN05) to take part in the groundbreaking ceremony for a new $10 million (GBP5.3 million) museum to be erected in his honour.
The Indianola museum is close to the site of the house where the 79-year-old guitar legend grew up and it's actually on the site of the cotton mill where he once worked.
King says, "I had this thought that I would build a house and at my death it would open as a museum."
But the museum isn't a certainty yet - state officials are still looking to raise money to complete the project after a $2 million (GBP1.05 million) state-funded bond fell through.12/06/2005 10:42
