Bassey Fumes Over Kanye Sample

Legendary diva DAME SHIRLEY BASSEY is furious after discovering rapper KANYE WEST sampled her 1971 hit DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER in his single DIAMONDS FROM SIERRA LEONE.

The 68-year-old star is considering legal action after West used the chorus from the JAMES BOND soundtrack song and alleges his record label Roc-A-Fella never approached her, reports British newspaper the Daily Mail.

Bassey says, "I didn't know anything about the song before its release.

"He didn't ask my permission to have me singing on the his song. I didn't even know it existed until I heard him performing at the Live 8 concert. I didn't even hear from his record company, which wasn't very nice.

"(Legally) it's something I want to look into, because he was very cheeky, so one way or another he is going to have to pay me a lot of money."

I'm not a huge fan of rap and am a 30-somthing, but I actually do like this song. If anything, people who would not have otherwise heard of Bassey might want to listen to her music now. I don't think she has a case, however -- unless she owns the rights to the song it was sampled from.

Royalty check is right about one thing: Never heard of Clown-ye until he made his stupid remarks. I always find it interesting how buffons like Royalty hide behind some flimsy-ass race card when they lose the intellectual argument. What the hell, "whitey hates the black man" always plays well in african america, especially since black people can't be racist.....right?How convenient it must be to have the standard "racist, bigot, homophone" shield to hide behind when you have noting else of substance to say.

Half of u ppl hadn't heard of Kayne b4 the G.Bush comment. Now u wanna bash him. U think he really gives a fly'n f about what u say about him. Do your homework and then bash someone. And for the person who brought up the slave thing...there is still slavery going on in the world today Einstein. Slavery is not only physical, but it is also mental. U ppl are just mad that Kayne spoke the TRUTH. Why do u think the government had dogs and waterhoses during the civil rights period? They wanted to break our spirit. Black people and Native American people have endured so much, but you cannot break us. We will not LOSE.

Are you taking crazy pills? Race is not an issue here. George Bush didn't sample Shirley Bassey without bothering to ask her permission. I didn't vote for Shrub. The question is, did you vote? Funny how many black folk blame whitey but can't be bothered to vote. Also ironic that these politically correct intellectual midgets refer to American Blacks as African Americans. There is nothing African about American blacks, with the possible exception of Kanye West who actually bothered to alert the masses the price of bling. He and his handlers made a blunder. They sampled a woman who is considered a national treasure in her own country without being gentlemanly enough to ask her permission. He also is a fool for not asking her to contribute to the visual of his video. Dame Bassey is drop dead gorgeous and fiesty too. But these moranic wigglets writing in about whitey are sniffing too much white out. I applaud West for what he said about Bush not caring about Black people. He could have gone further and said America doesn't care about black people. I would have said something to the effect of, what about black people is there NOT to love? Id leave the blame designation for politicians. Regardless an artist irrespective of popularity has an audience and eventually that art form will meet a peer review. West is busting through many barriers. He needs to put a helmet on and he needs to prepare himself for the size of a profile that unfortunately seems to double and triple in the effusive shadow of its own self perpetuating ego. You little wigglets go home and read up on Fredrick Douglass.

Paycheck the old Egyptian scribes had a meaningful proverb chiseled onto many a rock wall. It goes something like this:"If the Master teaches ignorance, the disciple's submission is slavery; if the Master teaches realization, this submission is ennoblement."Are your posse of " white friends" enobled or subjugated?

And for your information zod, I have a crew of white friends. Everytime we go out, white people stare at us and I LOVE it. U hate what u don't understand. They are some of the best friends I have, and they talk bad about white people themselves at times. They know they are in the minority when it comes to white people having black friends, but they could care less. I couldn't either Zod....

Just for clarity's sake...I did not vote for Bush either time, and I don't support his policies. I am also not a Democrat, though politically I lean a bit more in their direction. The comments I made reflect MY feelings, not something I've been taught to recite. Every person in this country has the same opportunity...if you want to play the game. If not...live in poverty and complain. I read the Drudge Report, but I'm a thinking human. Since all knowledge is based on human findings, all knowledge should be treated with skepticism. I know that sounds strange to the mindless dolts, but I'm perfectly capable of making up my own mind. Therefor I choose to not feel pity for self-inflicted wounds. I will wear my pants around my waist, not my ankles. When I wear a hat, I won't wear it sideways. I will choose to speak and write my native language to the best of my ability. I will choose, when I have children to parent them and only make them with one mother. I will choose it's more important to instill right and wrong in my children than to drive a car more expensive than my house. And in the end I'll do my job, pay my taxes so that others can have the money and cry about how bad they've got it. You compare yourself to the Native Americans? I laugh at you. I am part Cherokee. Our country was stolen by the white man. Your own people sold you to the white man. My country is gone...yours is not. If it's so bad here, go back to Africa and have the country run the way you want it to be. There's plenty of room. I'm not some "love it or leave it" type. I find plenty of fault in our government. And, I'm not a racist. White people who buy into the "Hip Hop culture" are just as nauseating to me. I think my uncle put it best: "I've known lots of n****rs in my life, and most of them were white". Be responsible. Peace.
