Bambi Faces Ban For Being Too Scary
DISNEY movie BAMBI is facing a ban under new broadcasting rules which view the classic as psychologically harmful to children.
The BRITISH BROADCASTING CORPORATION (BBC) has criticised watchdog OFCOM for claiming the tale of a young deer should be axed, as some children are scared by scenes where Bambi's mother is shot by hunters.
The BBC says, "(The measures could have the) potential to severely restrict the programme choice by adults.
"Children enjoy a good deal of violence in action-packed films and drama, both in real life and animation.
"Is it intended to prevent such broadcasts in the future?"
Other movies which could be affected by the guidelines include the HARRY POTTER films and the American TV series BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER.08/10/2004 13:37
