Baby Illness Costs German Filmmaker Her Big Oscar Night
A last-minute baby illness kept movie maker CAROLINE LINK from claiming her Best Foreign Film OSCAR on Sunday night (23MAR03).
The NOWHERE IN AFRICA director failed to show at the ACADEMY AWARDS after her baby was taken ill.
Instead, she watched the show from her hotel room.
The film became only the second German movie to win a Best Foreign Film OSCAR. THE TIN DRUM was the last movie to pick up the prize in 1979.
