Arrest Warrant Issued For D-12 Member After Proof Funeral
An arrest warrant has been issued for D-12 member SWIFT, after the rapper skipped a court appearance to attend his friend PROOF's funeral in Detroit, Michigan, yesterday (19APR06). Swift - real name ONDRE MOORE - was required to attend a hearing to determine if he has violated the terms of his probation on drink-driving charges. Swift pleaded guilty on 17 October last year (05) to driving a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, and he failed a court drugs test and was put behind bars for two days. The 31-year-old was then sentenced to two years probation and ordered to serve 50 hours community service, and attend alcohol and drugs anonymous. But Moore tested positive for alcohol last month (MAR06) and spent a week in jail, and he failed a similar test last week, prompting yesterday's hearing. Judge BRIAN MACKENZIE issued a bench warrant for Swift's arrest and set his bail at $500,000 (GBP285,000), saying, "While I recognise the importance of attending a funeral... there is a requirement that you make some effort to comply with a court order." Moore could face up to three months in jail if Judge MACKenzie rules he broke his probation.
