Armstrong's Anger With Young American Voters

GREEN DAY frontman BILLIE JOE ARMSTRONG was livid with America's 18 to 29-year-old population when GEORGE W BUSH was re-elected US President - because there was such a small voting turnout in that age group.

The AMERICAN IDIOT singer, who is passionately anti-Bush, hoped young American adults would vote for Democrat candidate JOHN KERRY earlier this month (NOV04), and was alarmed only 17 per cent bothered to go to the polls.

He says, "Hopefully Bush will get put on trial for war crimes right now. There was a feeling that he was gonna get re-elected anyway, just because Kerry wasn't a very strong opponent.

"But the depressing thing about it is the people from 18 to 29-year-olds that didn't vote, the turnout ended up being 17 per cent in some places.

"But of those people, 54 per cent ended up voting for Kerry, which is pretty overwhelming."

And Armstrong is less than happy with the prospect of more Bush for a further four years.

"There's a small percentage of those people in the south that still wave the Confederate flag. I think George Bush is more of a threat to the freedom of America than (ousted Iraqi dictator) SADDAM HUSSEIN ever was."
