Arctic Monkey Turner Voted Coolest Man

Rock newcomer Alex Turner of British band Arctic Monkeys has been voted coolest man on the planet, beating out competition from superstars like Liam Gallagher and Kanye West.

The 19-year-old I BET YOU LOOK GOOD ON THE DANCEFLOOR star, who formed Arctic Monkeys with his schoolmate JAMIE COOK three years ago (02), topped the poll in UK magazine New Musical Express (NME).

Oasis frontman Gallagher and rapper West came second and third respectively.

NME's associate editor ALEX NEEDHAM says, "I think what people really want at the moment is authenticity.

"(Turner) is almost like a new breed of rock star, almost like a year zero. He has come straight from the audience on to the stage."
