American Splendor Gets Top Honour From La Critics
11 January 2004Independent movie American Splendor has been named Best Picture Of The Year by the Los Angeles Film Critics Association.
The film, an innovative biopic of file clerk-turned-comic book creator Harvey Pekar, already won top prizes at the CANNES and SUNDANCE Film Festivals last year (03) and was named the year's best picture by America's NATIONAL SOCIETY OF FILM CRITICS.
Also receiving honours from the Los Angeles Film Critics Association was Lost In Translation's Bill Murray and 21 GRAMS' NAOMI WATTS, who were named best actor and best actress.
Lord Of The Rings trilogy director Peter Jackson won best director.
