Alan Partridge To Hit The Big Screen

British funnyman STEVE COOGAN's comedy alter-ego ALAN PARTRIDGE is set to star in his own movie - but Partridge's co-creator ARMANDO IANNUCCI is fiercely against the idea.

AROUND THE WORLD IN 80 DAYS star Coogan is keen to resurrect the irritating radio presenter, who thrust him into the limelight in satirical British news programme THE DAY TODAY and spin-off shows KNOWING ME, KNOWING YOU WITH ALAN PARTRIDGE and I'M ALAN PARTRIDGE.

A spokesman for Coogan's BABY COW production company says, "It's in the pipeline but we don't have any definite date."

But Iannucci complains, "My personal view is that I've taken him as far as he can go and I'd rather leave him where he is - having a nervous breakdown in a bath in Dundee.

"But it's up to Steve what he wants to do with it and I wish him well."
