African Film Festival Marred By Tragedy
The opening of the pan-African film festival FESPACO has been marred by tragedy following the deaths of two people in a stampede.
The fatal crush occurred yesterday (26FEB05) during the opening of the stadium gates in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, for the week-long event. At least ten others were injured.
Festival organisers and the speaker of Burkina Faso's national assembly have offered their condolences to the families of the victims.
Hollywood actor DANNY GLOVER is on the jury of the festival, which celebrates the best in new African feature films and documentaries - as well as cinema offerings from Europe and America.27/02/2005 21:12
