50 Cent Delays Album Release

Rap superstar 50 CENT has delayed the release of his second album by four months, to avoid a chart clash with members of his hip-hop crew G-UNIT.

The IN DA CLUB rapper was scheduled to release his much anticipated LP in February (04), but it now won't hit shelves until June (04).

He explains, "I was gonna release it in the first quarter, but the record company asked me to give G-Unit's BEG FOR MERCY room, you know. The material for the G-Unit record came out so well, they feel like it's gonna have a long shelf life."

G-Unit's album is slated for release on 18 November (03) and group member YOUNG BUCK has high expectations, predicting 1.5 million copies will be sold in the first week.

He says, "I believe anything is possible. You know, with the controversy around the album, I think once the people get a hold of it and they get to listening and seeing the things on the album, that's gonna make you say, 'Hold up - I know they didn't just say that.' It's gonna draw a whole lot more people."

50 Cent's debut album GET RICH OR DIE TRYIN', which has sold more than six million copies worldwide since its February (03) release, continues to shift approximately 40,000 copies a week.
