JAY JENKINS - YOUNG JEEZY ESCAPES WEAPONS CHARGES

Georgia rapper YOUNG JEEZY is celebrating after weapons charges against him were dropped by a Florida court. The hip-hop star, real name JAY JENKINS, was arrested in March (06) following a shootout in the South Beach nightclub Mansion. While no one was injured during the altercation, Jenkins was charged after police found a semi-automatic handgun under the rapper's seat in the vehicle he was seated in following the fight. Charges against Jenkins were dropped today (16MAY06) at a hearing in a Miami-Dade Circuit court due to insufficient evidence. The GO CRAZY hitmaker's Florida lawyer DONALD BIERMAN said Jenkins was "simply at the wrong place at the wrong time" when the fight erupted. His New York lawyer SCOTT LEEMON adds, "As we told everyone that day, no weapons in the car belonged to Young Jeezy. We are glad that he is able to put this behind him and refocus on what he does best - making hit records."
