X-MEN: THE LAST STAND enjoyed a huge opening weekend (26-28MAY06) in Britain and ended THE DA VINCI CODE's short-lived reign at number one. The third movie adaptation of the comic book superheroes earned a massive GBP7.1 million ($12.8 million) compared to The Da Vinci Code's GBP4.9 million ($8.8 million), which sees RON HOWARD's movie fall to number two after just one week at the top. Animated adventure THE WILD, which features the voice of KIEFER SUTHERLAND, is a new entry at number three with GBP1 million ($1.8 million), while TOM CRUISE's action adventure MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE III took GBP757,000 ($1.4 million) during its fourth week on release in the UK. Indian film FAANA is a new entry at number five earning GBP413,000 ($743,000).
