REESE WITHERSPOON - WITHERSPOON, GARNER AND TYSON TOUR NEW ORLEANS

REESE WITHERSPOON, JENNIFER GARNER and CICELY TYSON have paid a visit New Orleans, Louisiana to draw attention to the plight of families trying to adjust to life in the city post-Hurricane Katrina. The city on America's Gulf Coast was submerged by water following the devastating natural disaster in August (05) - and life has yet to return to normal following a much-criticised relief effort. Oscar-winner Witherspoon says, "I don't think you get a real clear perspective unless you come down and see it. "The children need attention right now." The three actresses joined forces with the Children's Defence Fund (CDF) during their Monday (08MAY06) visit, and spoke at a Freedom School set up by the group. Following her visit, ALIAS star GARNER says, "I've been shocked and heartbroken."
