KATE WINSLET - WINSLET PROUD OF DAD'S ROCK GROUP

KATE WINSLET's dad has thrilled his family by founding a touring rock band - at 65.

ROGER WINSLET has temporarily turned his back on his acting career to rock on with a group called BIDGIE REEF + THE GAS.

His actress daughter says, "My dad was an actor all of his life, but, as is the way with the world of actors - particularly in England, it's difficult to find work.

"So, about 10 years ago, he thought, 'Well, it's kind of drying up a little bit now and I've always loved singing and so I'm going to form a band.

"My dad is 65 and he's, I'm very proud to say, lead vocals in this band which is called Bidgie Reef + The Gas. All the other bandmembers are under 35.

"I think this is completely triumphant. At this age, when people are supposed to be finding ways to slow down, my dad is pumping it up. They just did a tour of Ireland."
