KATE WINSLET - WINSLET AND MENDES BUY NEW YORK HOME

OSCAR-nominated actress KATE WINSLET has bought a $5 million (GBP2.63 million) FRIENDS-style New York apartment with Oscar-winning husband SAM MENDES.

The British couple fell in love with the city when Winslet filmed ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND there in 2003 - they rented an apartment in the same Chelsea district, and set their hearts on returning.

The 29-year-old actress has since given birth to her second child, JOE, and a friend says, "Kate fell in love with New York's Chelsea. That time and place will always be special to her.
