Hughes wrote and directed classic movies in the 1980s including SIXTEEN CANDLES, THE BREAKFAST CLUB and FERRIS BUELLER'S DAY OFF. The film is based on an idea from Hughes about a two high school students who hire Wilson to protect them, after mistakenly believing he is a soldier of fortune.
